IMO, people need to decide for themselves how much weight to
give their first impressions of other people. ...
Of course.
But ... to say 'Hey, this guy hasn't bothered me a bit... but I'm
*READY* for it!' is *setting* onself up for trouble, IMO. Being
prepared is a Good Thing, but walking around with a chip on your
shoulder is another altogether.
I have no way of knowing if the OP is doing the former or the latter,
but I'd simply suggest avoiding the chip-wearing thing altogether.
It's energy-draining and not the most conducive thing to workplace
harmony.
Think of the manager's position: He's got this guy just WAITING to
find something to take offense at.
