Umm, about the SSL! folder? That's not *always* true. Close though ;-)

That answer seriously depends on what the output was. For the WinHelp
projects I did five years ago, who knows? It was context-sensitive help; the
developers uploaded the file with the application.

Right now, I have created a merged WebHelp "document library" that is
uploaded onto a Web server. My upload folder is called "mergedGenerated" and
contains a main project folder (JobMain) and a subprojects folder (Folder 1,
Folder 2, Folder 3, etc., etc.). (See Grainge.org if you need instructions
about this or any other knotty RoboProblem--Peter was a lifesaver on this
one--couldn't have done it without his help.) There's no SSL folder involved
here.

But, the point is, I would never disqualify a job applicant with such a dumb
question. I would be much more interested in what the writer thought the
challenges of using RoboHelp were--and they are many, believe me. Also,
knowing how that writer would approach a corrupted RoboHelp database file
would be a really good indicator of problem-solving ability, don'tcha think?

Survivor of some pretty weird interviews myself,

I'm not defending the interviewer -- who sounds like a fool with
communication problems -- but I'm guessing that the idea behind the
question isn't as bizarre as some of you think. I suspect it just wasn't
phrased clearly or accurately.

It's been a while since I used RoboHelp, but I recall that creating an
RH project always created a !SSL! folder (inside the parent folder for
the project). The !SSL! folder contained the source files (.htm, .js,
graphics, etc.) for the project, and the rather distinctive name was
always the same.

I'm guessing that your interviewer was testing your claim to knowing
RoboHelp and just badly muffed the question.
