I specify acronyms and abbreviations and definitions in the XYZ Company
Glossary, which is usually the first document I create at a new gig because
nobody else ever thought that such a thing might be useful. "What are you,
a lawyer" is the common refrain when I first suggest it.

Just about the time that we get well into the document control process and
their operations start oozing their way out of the chaos stream, they are
sometimes open to the suggestion that yes, it is a good idea to call things
by the same name instead of using six different names for the same thing.
And yes, it's a good thing that we stopped using the same name to refer to
six different things. Maybe that Company Glossary wasn't such a waste of
time after all.
