For most of December, I'll be traveling in India (speaking at the STC
conference in Bangalore*, then touristing for a couple weeks). Our
household insurance policy contains a standard home office rider,
which means we have some protection for our laptops while we travel,
but we're a bit dubious that it will extend to India (our agent was
equivocal), and in any event, they were quite clear that it covers
only loss, not damage, and could not be extended to cover damage.
* If you'll be in the area, please stop by to say hello! I'll
undoubtedly be extremely busy at the conference, but would love to
meet you in person after all these years of communicating exclusively
by e-mail.
So: Any suggestions for reliable, trouble-free, travel insurance for
laptops? "Cheap" would also be an asset. <g> Please copy your reply
to me, and I'll summarize to techwr-l once the replies begin to taper
off.
