You mispeelt "shot himself in the foot".

If you were advertising for a P & P writer, then you might excuse his
terseness. But he missed an opportunity to include a sample proposal (cover
letter) with his resume.

I agree: sheesh. Wait a sec, that wasn't me that did that, was it? :^)
