Wow, you mean folks in Colorado know how to use 4-wheel drive cars... lol

Here in Cincinnati we don't get enough snow to really train drivers, on top
of that, a lot of what we get is the lovely snow/ice mix. So here in
Cincinnati I call the 4-wheel drive feature 4-wheel slip. I did a long term
gig commuting to Dayton (about 50 miles) on I-75. When there was icy weather
I would invariably pass a number of vehicles in the median stuck. Most, if
not all, were 4-wheel drive SUVs... To paraphrase Clint Eastwood "A man's
gotta know his car's limitations", and to be clear, I recognize it is a
training issue for the "drivers".

The days that we _can't_ go to work are generally called "blizzard
days." The last one I recall was in 2003. Here's a post with a couple of
pictures of a regular, go-to-work snow day (~12"), followed by a couple
of pictures from the 2003 blizzard (30"+, much more in drifts):

Seriously, I hope you folks in the path of the storm stay safe. And
Happy Weekend to all!
