I'm living in New York because I fell in love with, then married, a
woman who's a working journalist and needs to be here. And bitching
about the cost of living aside, I love it here and am happy with the
deal I've cut.

The best of all possible worlds would be to make a New York City
salary but work remotely from a lower-cost location within a few hours
of the City.
