TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
>Technical writing is *exactly* like engineering in which analysis
>of requirements precedes formal design (document outline) and
>implementation. If you are in an environment where this is not
>the case, either your technical writing process is dysfunctional
>or, worse, your company's product development process is.
That would be my major problem, yes.
Various of us are trying to put processes in place, but this is a small
company, everyone's in fully-stretched 'hurry' mode, deadlines are
tight, and even though proper processes would save time in the long run,
it's difficult to get them put in while there's urgent work to be done
for clients - which is always.
Thankyou everybody for your suggestions and help; I now have a number of
things to talk about, and a few possible objectives that may even be
quantifiable :)
