For us, copyediting includes ensuring proper formatting for text, headings
and such. Therefore, that also means applying XML tags (code), handcoding
XML tables and such, then validating the file. We usually have the code for
a template as a model and the schema that governs what's allowed and not,
though. We currently use XML Spy, which validates the file or gives you a
clue about what is making it invalid, thus not ready to publish.
