TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Dash it all. I'm at work and I'm still reading this web page. I have to take breaks for like work and stuff. But now I'm starting to laugh at the web page and I think some cube neighbors think that I popped a sprocket. It really doesn't help that last night my network login got restricted and my key card quit working. I went home thinking that I got fired in a very tactless way. So I took home all of my stuff, emailed myself some last minute writing samples, and I came in today thinking that I would pick up my last check. When I asked about my lack of access, I confused a few people who didn't know anything about my contract ending abruptly. I guess it was just a coincidence that my card and my network access both stopped working at the same time.
So anyway, there is a little teasing about the confusion, "We were going to throw you a going away party." Now I am sitting alone and laughing in my cube at this darn web page with the demented cover letters. People might start to wonder about me.
But about the web page... I get a little competitive sometimes. I guess it's an OCD. I'm thinking of writing a cover letter that will put those other cover letters to shame (might as well get the practice). I'll get really drunk, start writing cover letters at midnight non-stop, and take whatever I finish at 3:47am and mail it Killian Advertising. That could do it.
