How many times has a story about submarine experience led
to a job for you Greg?

Hard to say, of course. I certainly didn't start spinning sea
stories in interviews of my own initiative :) But it does stick
out in my mind how often that part of my resume piqued an
interviewer's curiosity. It's made me think twice about
dropping it off my resume - hence my mention of it in this
discussion.

Looking back, I *can* say that every manager who ended
up hired me did ask much more about that experience than
I would have expected, given the relevance. Can't hurt to be
more than a cipher in the pile of candidates. So if you do
have something potentially interesting or unusual in your
work history, it *might* pay to leave it in your resume.
YMMV.
