I don't know if it's any consolation, but I'm looking at the first steps
toward a double root canal on Monday. Just got the vacation day approved
(this is not how I had anticipated spending my vacation time -- or money).
Even worse, I've got a weekend without the dental work to look forward to.
God bless Hurricaine.
I think the patch on the broken basement window did not hold in yesterday's
wind -- the furnace is running full tilt but the kitchen water is frozen
again. The window guy is supposed to come back tonight after work. I'm
expected to do my job right the first time. Why can't everybody else be
held to the same standard? Gnarf.
My goats are shivering but they are also refusing to let me put their
blankets on them. I gave them a little extra grain and hay and warm water
to drink and told them to go ahead and freeze if they can't cooperate any
better than this. They'd probably just get tangled up in the blankets
anyway; with extra hay they can build nests and cuddle. I've provided a
dry, deep-bedded, clean barn. They'll be okay but of course I worry,
especially when I'm not at 100% health.
Did I tell y'all about my miraculous editing job this week -- 36 Powerpoint
slides in 45 minutes, fixed all of the format inconsistencies, corrected the
grammar and spelling so my second-in-command boss would not be embarrassed,
also corrected the technical and document reference inaccuries while I was
at it. In the midst of this rush job, did not kill the HR secretary who
came in to ask if I could spare one of my special-order binders, and when I
said "I think so but I'm in the middle of a rush job right this minute, I'll
dig it out before lunch" she literally shoved my chair out of her way (my
hands were actually moving on my keyboard) and reached under my desk to grab
the box of binders. Also did not kill the boss when he announced to all and
sundry what a great job I had done "making the presentation look pretty".
I have decided I'd better get something done about those two throbbing teeth
before I open conversations with boss and secretary. But conversations we
are going to have.
