Yes. The marketing manager at one of my jobs was offended by the following line:
"This tutorial will teach you how to XXXXXX" where the XXXXXX was the target lesson for the tutorial.

He insisted on the following rewrite:
"This tutorial will empower you with the knowledge to XXXXXX." or something similar to that. I don't quite remember.

As a side note, I'm always amazed at what people will find offensive........this guy was offended by "teach." I've met a person who went on a rant about the word "train" and how it made her feel like she was being treated like an animal in a circus show. <sigh> What can one do?
