Hi Keith:

You should only need the start page name in the path. That is what I use to
call subprojects from a merged Webhelp file, like so:

http://intranet.mysillycompany.com/roboprojects/mergedProjects/Accounting/Accounting.htm

- or -

R:\roboprojects\mergedProjects\Accounting\Accounting.htm

Where Accounting is the start page (that loads the "skin" with the toolbar
and so on) and the first topic page is About_Accounting.htm.

I always try to use a very short name for the start page that loads the
container (frame, toolbar, etc.) for the help.

Hopefully, this helps you. Note that you can also use a relative path, if
you want to: .\mergedProjects\Accounting\Accounting.htm

Good luck,

PT

Hello all! Yet two more questions... Here's the situation:
* When the end user of my software clicks on the Help menu, the help
system for the software should open.
* The help system is WebHelp.
* I must specify the path used to open the help system.

These are the paths people have recommended I use:
EXAMPLE NO. 1: X:/helpfolder/startpage.htm#path/target_topic_1.htm
EXAMPLE NO. 2: X:/helpfolder/startpage.htm#target_topic_1.htm

In other words, first specify the Startpage, then the Default Topic (in
this case, the Home Page).

Here are my questions:
1. If EXAMPLE No. 2 works, what is the point of "#path" in EXAMPLE No.
1?
2. Is the target topic essential in the path?

Here's why I ask the second question:
* I generate my WebHelp system.
* I open the !SSL! folder
* I open the WebHelp folder.
* I double click the Startpage file.

When the Startpage opens, it appears to have everything my end user
needs, including TOC/Index/Search tabs. Can I use this path:
X:/helpfolder/startpage.htm
Or must it include the Default Topic (Home Page) as well:
X:/helpfolder/startpage.htm#target_topic_1.htm

Thanks, as always, for taking a stab at these admittedly arcane
questions. If I've missed something incredibly obvious here, forgive me!

Keith
