IF - and that is necessarily a big if - the people who worked on the
document before you did linked those images in, instead of embedding,
then a little VBA code will give you a list of the images your doc
references. You can check for this (or do a manual listing) by
selecting images, one at a time, and pressing Shift+F9 to toggle field
codes. If the image changes to a field code, like {INCLUDEPICTURE
picturename.ext} then it will tell you which file is linked in at that
location. If nothing happens, then that picture was embedded - pasted
into the Word doc, or inserted using Insert > Picture > From File but
without choosing the Link to File action... sorry!

If you do this check at random and find that quite a few images have
been linked instead of embedded, post back and I'll post some VBA code
which lists out the filenames used by images in your document.
