No, no, no, no ... definitely 1991. Gopher and Archie were a 
step a right in the right direction, but I missed CIX - though 
300 baud did suck. 

I blame it all on registering Internet domain names. Imagine, 
being able to address someone without knowing the path 
to their machine ... and, horror of horrors, getting an e-mail 
from someone you didn't know! ... that opened the door to 
the Green Card lawyers and it went downhill from then on. 
Bring back the bang! 

Simon (who still uses Lynx and Netscape 0.9).
