I wouldn't paste the image into InDesign at all. I would save the file
as a format you like (TIF, PNG, whatever fits your workflow) then
place it into a frame in InDesign. It's been a while since I used
InDesign so I don't remember the exact steps / tool names (sorry). But
if you look in the help under something like "placing an image" you
should probably find it.
