TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Yep, that's what we do for a living, indexing. Those are pretty good
books and booklets, by the way, written by some of my colleagues. Eleven
years of this weirdness, and still going....
Main reason I'm on this list is that tech writers and some of the
companies they work for seem to be more appreciative of our indexing
expertise than the traditional publishing world these days, so I'm
getting in touch with the community that's becoming more and more of my
clientele.
And RE: dealing with programmers thread; man, I feel for you all, being
inbetween the the technology creators and the communication to users. We
indexers are between the writers/authors and the readers/users a lot of
times. If you think programmers are interesting to deal with, try prima
donna college professors.....
