I went back to visit a few of the forums that I remembered. The actual
problem, I'm reminded, is not that stuff can't be found (so I assume they
are using a full-text search). It's how the results are displayed. You'd get
back a hit, open it, read some enticing words... and not know what thread or
topic the message was from.

Again, this could be a configuration issue on the part of the
administrators, or it could be a limitation of the software, or it could be
something entirely unrelated that hasn't occurred to me.
