I'm of the opinion that neither open source nor closed
source have a monopoly on quality. If a clear vision
exists, and can be shared among the developers in a
product cycle, it results in a quality product in
which every part supports the design vision for the
whole. If not, we get aphasic bloatware. (Thanks to
those of you who wrote in with contributing
information based on other rants on this topic on this
mailing list. Your ideas are partially incorporated
above.)

For good open source products, I think quality
documentation makes good sense. I've been working with
the Blackbox Lite developers:
