or "will appear." She said it made the process sound magical
("Abracadabra! It appears!") So she would write a sentence like this:

We had the same colleague! And she had seniority, so I wrote, "The dialog box displays." Active voice. I don't like using "displays" in this way because it reminds me of what some people refer to as a monitor (or if you're really old, a CRT).
