I have for the last few years deliberately sought
positions only in my local area (about a ten mile
span). I think living in a small community, even if
within a big city, and contributing to its economy and
social life is more important than driving all over
the place for a job. I buy locally, work locally, and
other than a few "entertainment" events, find a way to
enjoy the place. I drive a lot less and live a lot
more. Even more, I feel it's a more responsible way to
live.
