This thread is funny to me. I've had 3 long term (~10 years each) lone
writer jobs similar to the one your are describing. Have never worked with
ANYONE, even though my current gig is with a fortune 500 company with
plants all over the world, I'm still a lone writer. Though, I suppose
there are others in different divisions.

During the interviews, I may have been hungrier than you, or just got
along with the people off the bat, but I didn't ask any of those
questions. Each one I've gone in as the professional. I convinced them to
change from Word to Frame, then taken over and done as I choose. In three
different jobs, I've never had anyone question my knowledge on the
procedures, practices, tools, formats, or ANYTHING. I watch this list for
the information that I need to keep up to speed. I read some stuff online,
but am usually too busy.

Basically a lone writer job consists of getting the job done. The faster
you get the job done, with the least bother to them, the more they like
you and are likely to give you anything you ask for.... but isn't that
what any job is about?
