Hello,

I work in the marketing dep of a semiconductor company. We are a bit antiquated i.e., our developers write the documents! And they write them in Word. (I know!) The developers supply the documents to two *documentation* people and they *copy and paste* into Frame and create PDFs.
The documents are large cumbersome datasheets with with pages and pages of electrical characteristics formatted in tables. Quality have recently identified that the datasheets have errors. Things that have gone askew in the *copy and paste* process and Quality are not happy bunnies.

I have a couple of questions...

q1: Is there any *quick* way to cross-check the content of the tables in the final FrameMaker or PDF document with the original Word documents to be 100% certain that no transferring mistakes have been made?

q2: What is the best way of transferring large tables with weird symbols from Word to Frame?

q3: Quality are dreaming of a different solution. They are dreaming of a central database that the developers would use to update the electrical characteristics. The datasheets would be linked to this central database. If a value is changed in the database by a developer, it will be updated in the FrameMaker documents. Has anyone experience of a similar solution. I know FrameMaker has an import by reference function, but as far as I know this is only for links to other FrameMaker documents!

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with these questions.

Sarah
