TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Unfortunately, many/most of them do not realize that code can be
well-written, and still not serve a productive purpose because the
design of the application is lacking.
I've been in "just bang out some code" employment before, and it's
annoying as heck. The scope of knowledge of the application available
to each coder is nil, so it's easy to write in thousands of lines of
future disaster because conflicts exist.
I prefer the solid grounding in application design, with interface
considered as the user is the most important part of any app, and from
that a listing a technical needs which can then be spec'd and delegated
downward.
Too many appls are created with the "everyone rush the breach"
principle of programming, and it's no surprise they crash, eat data,
spin wildly out of control, watch reality TV, etc.
