"Histrionic skills"? Too much drama for me.

The comment "there are more people than good jobs" presents an interesting
issue with the terms "more people" and "good jobs." I noticed that you did
not say "more *good* (as in qualified) people than good jobs." This issue
here is not in a match-up between the quantity for quantity, but in quality
for quality. A "good job" should have a "good" person and this is the
conundrum that employers are facing.

Reputation of the job is not really a factor for people, but when hacks
flood the resource pool for that job, then there is a reputation issue that
exasperates the issue of quantity over quality.
