LaTeX is mostly used in academia as it is best suited for scientific writing with lots of equations.

I used LaTeX to for my masters thesis but cannot remember where I downloaded the plugin from.  

However, I still have the soft copy of my graduate work, so if you need any help with the syntax, let me know.

Otherwise, there is plenty of help online.
