This is for user names in screen examples. Perhaps it
could be adapted to work for company names. It's very
square (as in L7) and dull, but it alleviated a number
of concerns (arising from the nature of the product
and the business) that would be too lengthy to get
into here

For a product I used to work on: normal human first
name + number (written as words). For example, Sally
Six (obviously, if you add 63 to that you'll offend
someone, but that's easy enough to avoid; "four" might
have been tricky, though we never heard anything).

In the system I was writing about, we had different
categories of users, and if more than one appeared on
a given screen, they couldn't have the same last name.
Therefore, we assigned numeric ranges to each user
type.
