Subversion here and it works like a charm, we use Tortoise to get and commit
files, and with a little tweaking you can make sure that files are locked
and uneditable (they appear read only to other users, and FM flags them as
such).

As for WHY we use Subversion... Well I don't know as it was already here
when I arrived.

We've been using Visual Source Safe over here, cos its easily available and
works nicely with the developers as well.

Hi list,

We want to install a document versioning system to store FM8 books and
files. My manager is strongly recommending CVS, but having looked through
the archives here, it seems that Subversion might be a better bet. Has
anyone anything new to add to this debate to help me convince him? Or any
other recommendations for a system we can use? As I'm the sole writer here,
normally I should be the only one accessing files, but PMs might need to
pull them out from time to time. We're Windows-based.

Thanks in advance,

RT.
