I would think that in the Boston area you could easily find 20 or more
qualified consultants or professors willing and able to put together a
one-day workshop. The info could be presented in less time, for sure,
but I would include lots of time for hands-on practice -- as much to
identify those who are going to need more help as for actual learning by
the participants.

And for goodness sake, hold it off-site.

Don't forget to check with BOCES and community colleges for teachers and
workshop site. You can defray the expense if you offer spots to
interested locals. Call it "How To Write Better Technical
Specifications" and publicize it in the local papers, through IEEE and
ASQ and science clubs as well as the STC chapter. $100 is very
reasonable for a one-day workshop (make it $50 for students). If your
people know that they're getting a $100 workshop at no cost to them,
they will pay more attention and be more likely to use the knowledge
when they get home.
