Re: STC Salary data collection

So if HR departments don't care for the STC data collection methodology and 
typically don't avail themselves of the US government data, opting instead 
for the Radford salary data, wouldn't it be much more valuable for STC to 
license the Radford data and make it available to us?

I will confess I've never been privy to the Radford data (not ever having 
been a hiring manager) but my impression is that it's pretty much the 
standard in the HR world (that's just my impression with absolutely no data 
to back it up).

Or, for that matter, what about salary.com? Their data for technical writers 
is at least subdivided into four experience levels: Technical Writer I 
through Technical Writer IV. Individuals can access the data online but not 
in a really useful form. For that, one needs to pay. Perhaps that might be a 
source of useful data for STC, employers and individual technical writers.
