Karen Zorn and others have questioned the value of STC.
I've been to local STC functions about four or five times
in the last 20 or more years, and have yet to discover a
reason for any deep involvement. I do not have time for
social evenings--I already attend a couple of meetings
relating to Perl and to Linux. For interaction with other
tech writers, TECHWR-L is particularly good(*), and I do not
have to listen to discussions about, "Why doesn't anybody
come to our local meetings?"
Am I missing something, or is the STC missing something? If
I were to join, how on earth could I help?
