Subject: Suffix in or suffix to (a name)?

Jill Mohan wondered: <<When searching for a person with a suffix in/
to their name, do this. Anybody know which is correct - either
grammatically or human-intelligence-wise?>>

The clearer wording would avoid the issue entirely: "a person whose
name contains a suffix". If you're insistent on retaining a
preposition, go with "a suffix at the end of their name". A bit
redundant, but not all your readers will know what a suffix is, as
the reading level of general audiences is abysmal these days. Thus,
it might be better to err on the side of caution.
