TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
But how do you validate "Knowledge is created when information is
assimilated by consumers."
Who made that decision?

Subject: Re: More alternatives to 'Technical Writer'
Some modes of thought follow the taxonomy given below (paraphrased from
memory, so let the criticisms fly):
Data is binary bits that can be used to answer simple yes/no questions.
Information is created (developed) when data is organized into
documents, tables, charts, graphs and so forth. Information can be used
to answer more sophisticated questions.
Knowledge is created when information is assimilated by consumers.
Knowledge is useful in formulating new questions and similar activity.
Some people then put Wisdom on top of Knowledge. Wisdom allows one to
guide all the data, information and knowledge into the most desirable
activities.
So, in this context, we are Information Developers because we create
information when we create documents and other work products that
organize data into something more useful.
