*Techwrler: *Hello, I am the Information Developer assigned to this
project.

*Engineer*: Information Developer? What's that?

*Techwrler*: You know, the Technical Communication Specialist!

*Engineer*: Oh, you're the new one on the Communications Team! Well, let
me show you around. I specialize in CDMA and other cellular communication
technologies, but the next product will probably be based on WiMAX. Do you
have any experience with WiMAX?

*Techwrler*: Um, no, not *that *kind of communication. But I *am *a kind
of engineer. Sometimes they call me a Learning Products Engineer.

*Engineer*: Learning? Oh, you must be into artificial intelligence. I
took a course in that in college. Teaching computers to learn is really
interesting. That must be an interesting field! But then, why are you on
our team? We aren't doing any artificial intelligence work. Do you have
any background in voice recognition?

*Techwrler*: No, no. Not artificial intelligence! I am an Information
Engineer!

*Engineer*: An information engineer? What's that? Do you work in IT?

*Techwrler*: No, no!

*Engineer*: Um, what exactly *is *your job? And why did you call me for
this meeting?

*Techwrler*: I am responsible for the Technical Communication! You know,
the Information Products, and the Learning Modules, the Help Topics, and all
that!

*Engineer*: (silence)

*Techwrler*: You know, technical product collateral!

*Engineer*: Um, collateral? Does that mean you work for Marcom? I
thought that was handled by the Marketing folks. Why do you need to talk to
*me*?

*Techwrler*: No, no, I work in *Tech*Comm! TechCom*Dev* to be precise!
I am a Technical Communicator! And I need you to apply your Subject Matter
Expertise to my Technical Information Deliverables!

*Engineer*: Um, you need *what*?

*Techwrler*: Look, here's why I called this meeting. I just need you to
review this product manual, so I can make the final changes and generate the
PDF and HTML for the Product Website!

*Engineer*: The product manual? I thought the Tech Writer owned that!

*Techwrler*: I *am *the Tech Writer!

*Engineer*: Oh, why didn't you say so?

Happy Thanksgiving!
