I once asked this question on the Word forum and the answer I got is
below. I tried it with a text box, and it worked.
There's no built-in way to do this, but there is a workaround that might
work for you:
1. In your heading row, type "Table XX - Continued"
2. Create a text box or AutoShape (no line, white fill) to cover the "-
Continued" on the first page. In order to work, the "electronic whiteout"
must be anchored to a paragrpah in the first nonheading row so it won't
repeat along with the headings.

Subject: Table headers on subsequent pages
I tried the Word "Help" feature and havent seen anything that answers my
question, but . . .
Is there a simple way to include the word continued in table headers for
long tables that continue on 2 or more pages?
The only way Ive found to cause a table header to repeat is in Table
Properties > Row > and the check box at Repeat as header row at top of
each page.
Just nothing on adding continued to those table headers on subsequent
pages.
