This is one case where being a dinosaur, or at least
demonstrating that you know how to act like one when
it's called for, can be survival-enhancing. You never
know when a prospective hiring manager will turn out
to be some old coot like me.

That's because they don't. The old rules no longer apply -- except when
they do. As for myself, I adhere to the old rules because that's what I
grew up with. But I have asked many of those -- yeah, younger than me --
