The number of available jobs (for any profession) will vary with location. What *may* be true at a specific time for a specific location doesn't necessarily indicate an overall hiring trend.

Fewer jobs posted on job sites may just mean that more positions are being filled outside of job sites. For example, companies may hire from an internal pool of candidates, employee recommendations, through an agency, or via older or unsolicited resumes.

If job sites aren't providing many job listings - then you may want to conduct a broader type of job search. Or just ask how people get hired for tech writing jobs.

Hi

The reason I ask, is that in the searches I have done for Tech jobs,
there seems to be very few. From one of the stats sites I used, it said
that the number of jobs posted has dropped since last year. The jobs
are permanent though, so are contract positions more readily
available?
