Hi Lynn,

This situation is what SEQ fields were born for. They're terrific for
parallel numbering systems -- 1(a)(iii), etc. The bulleted lists don't
require the fields, just a dedicated style.

David Brown has posted some SEQ field basics at
<http://www.techwr-l.com/archives/0410/techwhirl-0410-00198.html>.
David's Autotext suggestion is also a big timesaver: "Just four autotext
entries and two paragraph styles, and you're set."

Dedicated styles are very important in your case, in order to avoid the
default list templates.

David Knopf's instructions at
<http://www.knopf.com/tips/autonumber.html> are also very helpful --
just bear in mind that they continue into RoboHelp, which you don't
need.
