Another idea: When you first insert the cross-references, you can use
Insert=>Hyperlink instead of Insert=>Reference=>Cross-Reference. The
Insert Hyperlink dialog box includes options for inserting
cross-references to headings and bookmarks (from within the same
document) in hyperlink format.

This will be useful to you in future documents, since it only works when
you first insert the cross-references. Since you already have the
cross-references inserted the usual way, I'd go with the macro approach
below.
