I can't seem to get a complete, coherent message out to save my life.
 
I forgot to add that the simple test I conducted using the hyperlink
approach DID make it through into PDF format -- sort of. That is, my
hyperlink in the PDF linked to the Word doc. I'm not sure if or how you
can get it to link to a PDF of the target document.
