Wendy,

I'll echo the LyX (www.lyx.org) and (qualified) Scribus recommendations.
I'll also point out that KWord (part of the KOffice suite for KDE) is
modeled somewhat on Frame. Version 2.0 is in beta now, and in my testing so
far is much better than previous iterations. Certainly worth a look-see, and
available with any KDE-based distribution.
