Command names are what they are, and if people are
queasy about commands like kill, abort, disable, or
whatever, they can stick to Windows. (Sorry, was that
harsh? ;-)

As for the kill switch, unless it's got a label that
says KILL, I'll probably call it the emergency stop
switch. But if it's labeled KILL, then it's the kill
switch.

That said, I do work with my developers to help them
find clear, neutral language - there's no need to call
a command "abort" if you can call it "cancel". And I'm
often the one who designs the product labeling, so we
use symbols instead of words on the equipment - that's
a good practice anyway, if you intend to sell your
product worldwide. So we don't have kill switches. :-)
