yourself a bunch of unformatted text from Project Gutenberg's archive of

You can then practice all your Frame skills while making a challenging
portfolio piece out of it. You can do everything from choosing the
template and style for the text to sourcing graphics for it.
Most employers don't much care how you learned FrameMaker (techwriters
are supposed to be able to learn software products quickly on their own
anyway) but what you can do with it. Showing them a finished book would
convince them of your skills, and you can take credit for every bit of
it -- even rewriting the content if you choose to do so.
