XML content management systems

Hello all,
I am a returning member of the list with an XML question.
 
Issue: I am looking/evaluating XML content management systems for my company. Currently, we work in Word and export to pdf via Acrobat and HTML Help via WebWorks. Our current document management system consists of a well structured folder hierarchy (no external links).
Prerequisites: Content will continue to be written in Word (upgrading to 2007). The system will also be used by non-Word experts (i.e. people other than tech. writers); this means that easy-of-use is a must. The management system should be as transparent to the writer as possible.
Environment: We will be updating from Office 2003, Windows XP to Office 2007, Vista in the near future. 
 
If you have any recommendations or suggestions, please reply with the details.
