Rob Hudson wondered: <<I've got a decent business card design for the
front of my card and I'm trying to think of something interesting for
the back that will *maybe* result in my card being kept as a
reference.>>

If the goal is to have people consult the card, or at least retain
it, you need to come up with something relevant to your target
audience that will encourage them to tape your card to their monitor
and look at it periodically. For example, my work is primarily
scientific editing, so I'd consider a list of standard metric units
and their prefixes, conversion factors between metric and imperial,
or even keyboard shortcuts for frequently typed symbols that my
authors never seem to be able to remember. Alternatively, I'd put
URLs for various useful Web sites, or (better still!) to a page of
useful science-related links on my own Web site. If they bookmark
that page, then I don't care whether they throw out my card -- I'm
still leading them to my site.

(In practice, I don't do this because my business cards serve a
different purpose -- mostly being handed out to colleagues at
conventions etc.)

So what is your specific niche, and what characteristics of that
niche could be usefully summarized on the back of your card? What
kinds of things do your potential clients need to look up frequently?
