That's because it's a new version (9.0 vs. 8.0) with expanded functionality.
The $40 product is no longer available; you can only buy the new, improved
$50 product. And then you get to learn a completely new user interface.
Once you learn it, I think you'll find it's a lot faster, but the transition takes
a while.

But the upside of the new version is that there is a new demo version with
a new 30-day clock, so you get another free month before you have to buy
the product.
