If someone told me they were Microsoft proficient, I would assume
(perhaps wrongly - as we all know that ass=u+Me) that I would not have
to tell them anything about their work related to Microsoft, other than
company specific issues, for example, which templates can be used,
network issues, etc.
I would not need to teach them how to work in Word, or PPT, though they
might need helps with advanced features (for example very complex
templates or macros).
But this is my point of view.
I have a feeling that this term will vary depending on who is defining
proficiency. I consider myself proficient, the people at work think I'm
"expert" but I know what I don't know... And expert I ain't <grin>
