FYI, the GNOME style guide is largely based on the
Sun style guide, as the writers who created it were
Sun contractors at the time :-> The quotes above can
also be found in _Read Me First_.
While it's true that we worked hard to make RMF
OS agnostic, all of the principles in RMF work in
UNIX environments because, as someone noted, Sun
is primarily a UNIX house.
