Hi
Greetings from Denmark ;o)
I use Word and have always used Word. I (as the only one in this relatively big company) write service manuals for ventilation equipment from Dantherm Air Handling A/S. The manuals are online in pdf for download and they are delivered hard copy with the product when sold to customers. I have a feeling 90 % of all of you are writing software documentation - is that correct?
I would love to have links from those of you who have published materials for products (not software, sorry) on the web for my own inspiration.
I have been writing for Dantherm for 5 years and before that for another company for 3 years.
I write from the Information Mapping method. So I have a lot of maps/sections that are 1-2 pages.
Lisa Green from the Netherlands has developed a VBA tool for me that collects from 2-??? 150 ??? word files to one large word file. This means that I do not have to struggle with large files that makes Word crash.
With this word-tool I can work a little single source since I have whole maps/sections in each manual that are the same, so these files are stored in a specific folder and reused in all or at least more manuals.
It really works fine and Word does not crash. I work with less than 15 style formats.
